MTR-700 firmware outdated, doesn't work, Cox says can't update

Has anyone succeeded in getting Cox to send a firmware update to their MTR-700 tuning adapter? I just got off the phone with Cox's self-install helpline, supposedly the CableCARD experts. I was told that Cox does not have the capability to push a firmware update to the tuning adapter; I was told that Cox "sells" the TA but doesn't make it, so they can't update it. (This, of course, is flatly untrue; the cable company is the ONLY entity that can update the firmware on these units, and they DO have the capability to push a new one, even if no one seems to know how.)

My problem is that I have a TiVo Roamio with six tuners. Per Motorola and TiVo, the MTR-700 requires firmware 01.37 or later to work properly with a six-tuner device. The new-in-box MTR-700 that Cox sent me yesterday as part of my self-install kit came with 01.33 --five-year-old firmware. As a result, two of my six tuners don't work at all, and the remaining four can't tune any encrypted channels properly. This is a known problem (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=508779&page=2) that is fixed with the correct firmware.

Cox's suggestion via phone support is that I take time off from work and make the 45-minute drive (one way) to their "Solutions Store" to get a new TA, in hopes that it will have the right firmware. I suppose I could call to get a technician out, and play what's-on-the-truck roulette. Neither of these are high-quality service options.

I'm hoping someone here knows the right person to call to get the firmware pushed... or, at the very least, a verified up-to-date TA sent out to me post-haste.

I'm trying hard to replace DirecTV and give Cox my money instead, but it's been a comedy of errors getting TV service, and I'm beginning to wonder if I should be returning my TiVo, handing back my CableCARD, and chopping down a tree or two to clear up the satellite signal instead. Might be easier.
