After giving Contour a month+ our family is very disappointed. All I want is a workable whole house DVR for four boxes but Contour is like it's still in Beta. The installer ($60) was very detailed and assured me the cabling / amplifiers he replaced and tuning of the system it would work flawlessly. No Joy.
It takes several tries to get a recorded program to play "We are currently experiencing tech difficulties - try again in a few minutes" appears over and over until you may get it to work - sometimes recordings never play.
If you pause a live program for a few minutes, you have to hurry back and unpause it before it freezes and you have to go up/down a channel to get reception back - which loses what you paused.
I could care less about channel recommendations - I just want 4 working DVR's in my house and Cox assured me it would be cheaper to go whole home DVR. But again, it is very buggy and unreliable in so many ways.
Serious question: We are thinking of removing our new DVR6 box and 3 remotes, bring them all down to the nearest service center and replace them with stand alone DVR's - but I don't think I should have to pay more to get a working system. Can I do this and save on the install costs to get a working system?
Sincerely - Cox customer for over 15 years.
