Can't rewind live TV on 6 Tuner client box (w/o being forced to pause or record it first)

I can't get a straight answer from tech or CSRs at the Solution store.  I just had the Record 6 DVR installed and noticed the "client" boxes are incapable of allowing the viewer to use the 30-second back or Rewind functions on live TV unless you first choose to "Pause" or "Record" that channel.  That is obviously not the way the Motorola 2-tuner box worked, as the prior boxes automatically began recording (in the buffer) as soon as you tuned to a new channel, which then permitted you to easily rewind back to the point at which you tuned to that channel (and also allowed for use of the 30-second back feature).

But with the Cisco client boxes, that feature only works if user first "tells" the box to seize a tuner and begin recording (by either pausing that channel or actually choosing to record that channel).  It's as if there is NO BUFFER.  I understand this may be okay for some folks, but not for chronic channel surfers who frequently use and depend on the 30-second back button.

I assumed with 6 tuners, the client boxes would simply use one of the tuners to create storage in a buffer to allow me to do the following:

1. rewind up to the point where you first began viewing that channel

2. use the 30-sec back button

3.  hit "Record" mid-show, and it would capture all of the previous buffered recording

Yes, I've entered the settings and enabled my client box to "pause live TV" but even the guide settings page clearly reads: "Once paused, a program can be rewound only up to the point were it was first paused"

Tech will be here tomorrow to check, but that is only because the CS Rep thinks I'm wrong and I didn't want to keep arguing with the young pup.  But I'm not a tech moron, and just looking for feedback from other users.... I ain't wrong, am I?

seems like the client boxes badly need a software upgrade/fix to allow the option of telling the client box to immediately seize a tuner as soon as the user begins viewing a channel on that box.  If that isn't coming, it's back to Moto DVRs for this household. Sad
