I have 4 cable boxes - one master and 3 satellite on the Whole Home DVR - I've had Techs out twice and had virtually all the cabling replaced - the Contour system will only work for about a week before it starts failing again. I've given it several months but it just does not work as well as individual DVR's. I could list all the problems but I'm exhausted with dealing with it. The latest is I choose "Pause" on live TV on remote boxes and it goes to all blue screen with "Please wait" and you can let it sit for ever but it never changes. The remote does not work for anything so I turn the box off with the button on the front, leave it off for over 10 minutes, then when you turn it on again, it is still on the Please wait screen. The only resolution is to reach around and unplug the box - you get used to doing this a lot - it will then go away but I've missed my show by then.
I need to know - do I just disconnect all four of the boxes and return them to local Cox outlet and exchange them for individual DVR's myself? or what should I do?.
I've done beta testing before so I'm used to wonky systems but the rest of my family is fed up with it and I have to return to individual DVR's. It's sad because the idea of a whole home DVR is a great one, but it's not available through Cox in a reliable form. I will be talking to billing about getting a discount for all the frustration and being forced to return to individual DVR's which are more expensive. Does the Contour system work for anyone? all I read is bad reviews and I ignored them but they were right, it cannot be made to work reliably. So next week I plan to switch back.
